Nord Stream Pipeline Rupture Largest Single Release of Methane Recorded, Says UN

The ruptured Nord Stream pipelines have produced the single largest methane release into the atmosphere ever recorded, according to the United Nations.

The highly concentrated methane leaking from the natural gas pipelines widely suspected to be the result of sabotage was detected by the UNEP’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) earlier this week.

“This is really bad, most likely the largest emission event ever detected,” IMEO chief Manfredi Caltagirone told Reuters on Friday. “This is not helpful in a moment when we absolutely need to reduce emissions.”

Researchers at GHGSat, which uses satellites to monitor methane emissions, estimated the leak rate from one of four rupture points was 22,920 kilograms per hour.

That is equivalent to burning about 630,000 pounds of coal every hour, GHGSat said in a statement.

Russia and the West have blamed each other for the pipeline sabotage during the week.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson argued Tuesday that Russia had nothing to gain from destroying its own pipeline, whereas the West had a great deal to gain from the incident, given the protracted conflict against Russia in Ukraine and its obsession with the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset agenda.

“If you are Vladimir Putin you would have to be a suicidal moron to blow up your own energy pipeline—that’s one thing you would never do,” Carlson said. “Natural gas pipelines are the main source of your power and wealth. And most critically, your leverage over other countries.”

“If you’re worried about climate change, what just happened to the Nord Stream pipelines is as close to the apocalypse as we have ever come. As natural gas pours into the Baltic Sea and into the atmosphere…Could the Biden administration really do something like this?” Carlson asked.

“We can’t say for sure,” he continued, further noting “We don’t know for sure…we can tell you that close allies of the Biden White House believe they certainly did do it.“

If the Biden administration really cared about climate change, why would they blow up the Nord Stream pipelines, if in fact they were the perpetrators?

Perhaps because the West never cared about climate change, but about control over the world’s energy resources, and therefore control over the people.
