UPDATE: AOC Claims She Wore Fake Handcuffs to ‘Avoid Being Charged with Resisting Arrest’
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez finally responded to allegations she pretended to wear fake handcuffs while interacting with police at the Supreme Court Wednesday, saying she held her hands behind her back to “avoid charges like resisting arrest.”
“Politics has become performative art. So of course
@aoc fakes being in handcuffs. Performance, not policy, is the name of the game up here,” wrote Congresswoman Nancy Mace.
No faking here. Putting your hands behind your back is a best practice while detained, handcuffed or not, to avoid escalating charges like resisting arrest.
