Die Lügen über den Krieg von deutschen Politikern am Beispiel von Strack-Zimmermann

Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chairwoman of the Defense Committee of the Bundestag, made statements about Ukraine on the political talk show „Maischberger“ and lied so shamelessly that I want to expose it. It should be noted that there are good reasons why German television stations, unlike Russian ones, do not interview me or invite me to their talk shows on the Ukraine conflict. I am knowledgeable about the topic and can easily refute the lies of Western politicians and „experts“ with facts, which of course is not desired in front of a German audience of millions.

The political talk show „Maischberger,“ which is successful on the German state broadcaster ARD, has now aired a show event in which the radical war advocate Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chairwoman of the Defense Committee of the Bundestag, discussed with the sociologist Harald Welzer, who holds a much more moderate position. Welzer may be an expert in his field, but his knowledge of the Ukraine conflict is limited, and he also does not understand Russian, which is essential if you want to know what the Russian government says and does.

The talk show was therefore purely a show event that was intended to once again show the German audience that the radical position of the German government on Russia and Ukraine is correct, and that anyone who holds a different opinion has no real arguments. If they had invited me or another real expert, it would not have worked because Strack-Zimmermann shamelessly lied to support her position, even inventing quotes from the Russian Foreign Minister. Welzer, who does not have the necessary knowledge to recognize the lies, could not counter this, even if he had wanted to.

This is what I want to illustrate with an example. „Putin wants to bring Ukraine back into his empire.“ Strack-Zimmermann began this part of her statement with the following words (video at the end of this article): „The declared goal of Vladimir Putin is to take over the entire Ukraine, bring it back into his empire. And he has not changed that.“ This is a lie, as anyone who knows Putin’s and the Russian government’s statements knows. Strack-Zimmermann made this up, because the opposite is true.

Russia has been working for eight years within the framework of the Minsk Agreement to ensure that Donbass remains part of Ukraine. This was stipulated in the Minsk Agreement (you can find the text here), and to achieve this, the Ukrainian Maidan government only had to enter into direct negotiations with the rebels.

The Minsk Agreement stipulated that the Ukrainian government should make a constitutional amendment in 2015 that guarantees the rights of the population of Donbass – primarily the right to live their own language and culture. In addition, the Maidan government should have declared a general amnesty because no one voluntarily lays down their weapons if they expect to be arrested afterwards. Furthermore, the Maidan government should have reached an agreement with the rebels through direct negotiations on the details of regional elections, after which Donbass would have voluntarily returned under Kiev’s control. A timetable for all of this was even specified in the Minsk Agreement, according to which the war in Donbass would have ended by the end of 2015.

But the Maidan government did not implement any of this and rejected direct talks with the rebels, even though President Poroshenko himself signed the Minsk Agreement in February 2015.

Russia has been working for eight years to implement the Minsk Agreement, and thus for the territorial integrity of Ukraine, while Kiev has sabotaged the Minsk Agreement with the support of the West. Today we know why this happened, because all the Western signatories of the Minsk Agreement (Poroshenko, Merkel, Hollande) have openly stated in interviews that they never intended to implement the agreement. It was only supposed to give Ukraine enough time to prepare militarily for a war against Russia.

Former British Prime Minister Johnson even openly called the Minsk Agreement a „diplomatic imitation,“ and Volodymyr Zelensky, Poroshenko’s successor as Ukrainian president, openly stated in a February 2023 interview with Der Spiegel that he also never intended to implement the Minsk Agreement: „Regarding Minsk as a whole, I told Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel: We cannot implement it like this.“

I do not know if Mr. Welzer is familiar with the content of the agreement or reads the Anti-Spiegel. Selensky’s statement was made almost in passing in the interview, and German media never addressed it, just as they never addressed Merkel’s admission that she never intended to implement the Minsk Agreement. These statements are quoted in interviews, but no German journalist asks how these statements are meant. And the German media acts as if these statements were never made.

Therefore, Mr. Welzer probably does not know that Putin never intended to bring back the „entire“ Ukraine into his empire, as Strack-Zimmermann claims. No one in the Russian government has ever said that, especially since the Russian government is hardly interested in turning the western, anti-Russian radicalized parts of the country into parts of Russia.

And Mr. Welzer certainly does not know that Zelensky himself has repeatedly said, even before the start of the Russian military operation, that anyone in Ukraine who has positive feelings for Russia should pack their bags and disappear to Russia. Since the neo-Nazi Zelensky government has even intensified this rhetoric and summarily executes people in recaptured areas whom they consider pro-Russian, Russia felt compelled to offer these people the opportunity to become part of Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov once put it this way, that these people should follow the advice of their own president and „pack their bags.
