Gerold Riedmann will become the new editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper „Der Standard“ in April next year. It is still unclear how many people will be part of his team. The newspaper is currently implementing a massive cost-cutting program. According to reports, 25 employees are expected to be affected by the measures. Rumors about an upcoming cost-cutting program have been circulating recently. It is said that 25 employees are currently preparing for their dismissal. According to „Horizont,“ „Der Standard“ is struggling with rising costs and declining revenues, which is not unique in the domestic media industry. Therefore, cost-saving measures have already been implemented, such as the discontinuation of the video service „Standard TV“ in the summer. This also affected a double-digit number of employees, some of whom have already been let go, according to „Horizont.
