Tens of thousands of people have gathered in the capital of the United Kingdom for another weekend of protests, demanding an immediate end to the Israeli attack on Gaza and criticizing their government for not voting for a ceasefire in the besieged enclave. In Vienna, two pro-Palestine demonstrations took place last week. Several hundred activists were present at each gathering, calling for an immediate stop to Israeli aggression against the civilian population in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as the recognition of Palestine as a state. On the anniversary of the Intifada on December 8, 1987, the peace protest for freedom and self-determination in Palestine marched from Karlsplatz to the ORF broadcasting house on Friday, and from the Opera House to Albertina, Michaelerplatz, Herrengasse, Freyung, and Votivkirche on Saturday. The participants sent messages of solidarity with Palestine to the world. The demonstrators faced unprecedented violations of their basic rights, which have been ongoing since March 2020 in the 2nd Republic. The Austrian government, as well as parliamentarians and the president, expressed concern, as they turned the Austrian neutrality into a meaningless matter and transformed UN and EU forums into graveyards of contempt for humanity.
