Mehr als 800 Vertreter aus der EU und den USA kritisieren die Israel-Politik des Westens

Published On: 2. Februar 2024 17:01

800 officials from the EU, the USA, and the UK have demanded in an open letter for the West to end its policy of double standards towards Israel and hold Israel accountable for its crimes in Gaza. The New York Times reported on the open letter under the headline „Over 800 officials in the USA and Europe sign letter against Israel’s policy.“ I will quote the open letter in its entirety and then make a brief comment on it.

Translation of the open letter: Declaration by transatlantic officials on Gaza: It is our duty to speak out when the policy of our governments is wrong. Published on February 2, 2024. Declaration by officials on Gaza: In light of this: we have a duty to respect, protect, and uphold our constitutions and the international and national legal obligations to which our democratically elected executives have committed us; as officials, we are expected to respect, serve, and abide by the laws in the implementation of measures, regardless of the political parties in power; we have done this throughout our careers; we were hired to serve our governments/institutions, to inform and advise them, and we have demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and experience on which our governments have relied in the past decades of our service; we have internally expressed our concerns that the policy of our governments/institutions does not serve our interests and have called for alternatives that better serve national and international security, democracy, and freedom, reflecting the fundamental principles of Western foreign policy and incorporating the knowledge gained; our professional concerns have been overridden by political and ideological considerations; we are obligated to do everything in our power for our countries and ourselves to avoid being complicit in one of the worst human catastrophes of this century; and we are obligated to warn the public of our countries, whom we serve, and to act in coordination with transnational colleagues. We publicly reaffirm our concern that: Israel has shown no limits in its military operations in the Gaza Strip, leading to tens of thousands of avoidable deaths among the civilian population; and that the deliberate blocking of aid deliveries by Israel has led to a humanitarian catastrophe, exposing thousands of civilians to the risk of starvation and slow death; Israel’s military operations have not contributed to its goal of releasing all hostages and endanger the well-being, lives, and release of the hostages; Israel’s military operations have disregarded all important insights gained in the fight against terrorism since September 11, 2001; and the operation has not contributed to Israel’s goal of defeating Hamas, but instead strengthened the appeal of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other negative actors; the ongoing military operation not only harms Israel’s own security but also the stability in the region; the risk of a larger war also has a negative impact on the declared security goals of our governments; our governments have publicly, diplomatically, and militarily supported the Israeli military operation; this support has been granted without real conditions or accountability; and in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe, our governments have failed to demand an immediate ceasefire and an end to the blockade of necessary food/water/medicine in Gaza; the current policy of our governments weakens their moral standing and undermines their ability to advocate for freedom, justice, and human rights worldwide, and weakens our efforts to gain international support for Ukraine and counter the malicious actions of Russia, China, and Iran; and there is a plausible risk that the policy of our governments contributes to serious violations of international humanitarian law, war crimes, and even ethnic cleansing or genocide. We therefore call on our governments/institutions to: no longer claim to the public that there is a strategic and justifiable justification for the Israeli operation and that it is in the interest of our countries to support it; hold Israel, like all other actors, accountable for complying with international humanitarian and human rights standards that apply elsewhere and respond forcefully to attacks on civilians, as we do in our support for the Ukrainian people; this includes demanding the immediate and full implementation of the recent order of the International Court of Justice; set all available levers in motion – including the cessation of military support – to ensure a lasting ceasefire and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip, as well as the safe release of all hostages; and develop a strategy for lasting peace that includes a secure Palestinian state and guarantees for the security of Israel, so that an attack like October 7 and an offensive on the Gaza Strip will not be repeated. Coordinated by officials in: institutions and institutions of the European Union, the Netherlands, the United States Also supported by officials in: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom End of translation. It is not excluded that these officials wrote the letter out of pure humanitarianism, but another fact is likely to play a major role, as hundreds of EU officials complained to the EU Commission in October about the double standards of the EU’s policy towards Israel. At that time, they justified their complaint by stating that the EU’s policy isolates the West in the Global South because the double standards in dealing with the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza are all too obvious and destroy the credibility of the West in the Global South. This would make all their efforts to gain influence in the Global South useless, the West has effectively lost the Global South. In my new book „The Ukraine Cartel – The Double Game for War and the Million-Dollar Deals of the US President Biden’s Family,“ I reveal, objectively and neutrally, based on hundreds of sources, previously undisclosed facts and evidence about the million-dollar deals of the US President Joe Biden’s family in Ukraine. In light of current events, the question arises: Is a small group of greedy businessmen possibly willing to bring us to the brink of a Third World War for their personal profit? The book has just been released and can only be ordered directly from the publisher. Here is the link to the new book
