Epoch Times 14. Februar 2024 Richard Wagner (1813-1883) was a German composer, playwright, and theater director. By Good Friday at the latest, his stage consecration festival play Parsifal (WWV 111) was once again on the schedules of opera houses worldwide. Parsifal is Wagner’s last music drama. Wagner determined that it should only be performed at the Bayreuth Festival House. The plot and title are based on the verse novel Parzival by the Middle High German poet Wolfram von Eschenbach. Wagner worked on it mainly between 1877 and 1879 and completed his work on January 13, 1882 in Palermo. The premiere took place at the second Bayreuth Festival on July 26, 1882 in Bayreuth.
