The ILWU’s failure to take a stand against the Israeli slaughter in Gaza is a betrayal of its own militant history and principles. It is a capitulation to the forces of imperialism and reaction that seek to crush any resistance to their domination. The ILWU leadership’s silence on this issue is a disgrace, and rank-and-file members must demand that their union stand on the side of justice and solidarity with the Palestinian people.
It is time for the ILWU to break its silence and take a stand against the Israeli occupation and massacre in Gaza. It is time for the ILWU to once again show the world that it stands on the side of the oppressed and the exploited, and that it will not be complicit in the crimes of imperialism and colonialism. The ILWU must stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and justice, and against the forces of oppression and tyranny that seek to crush their resistance. It is time for the ILWU to live up to its proud history and principles, and to once again be a beacon of solidarity and resistance in the face of injustice and oppression
