Gun Control Group Tells Uvalde Gun Store to Stop Selling AR-15s – Or Face Protests
A gun control group is taking advantage of the Uvalde school shooting by pressuring a local gun store to stop selling “assault rifles.”
In a petition signed by over 1,600 people posted to Change.org late last month by Uvalde Strong for Gun Safety, the group called out the owner of the Oasis Outback gun store in Uvalde and demanded he “cease the sale of assault rifles and the ammunition paired with them” and stop gun transfers.
“It was an assault rifle purchased at your place of business that was used in the shooting,” the letter tells Oasis Outback owner Randy Kline.
“Out of RESPECT for and in support of those affected by this catastrophe, we strongly urge you to cease the sale of assault rifles and the ammunition paired with them,” the group says. “In addition, we ask that you discontinue the handling of gun transfers of this style of firearm from gun retail stores and manufacturers.”
According to ABC affiliate KENS5, the group is planning to protest outside the gun store if Kline does not comply with their request within 30 days.
“Their countdown started when a mailman delivered a formal petition to the store owner on Aug. 11,” reports KENS5.
“Victims’ families met Wednesday to determine how they’d proceed if their request is ignored or denied,” the report adds.
Nexstar Media Group reported last month the petition was helped along by Robb Elementary school teacher Arnulfo “Arnie” Reyes who was reportedly inside the school when the shooting happened.
A Facebook page for Uvalde for Gun Safety tells prospective members to “Join us in the fight for answers and implementation of new gun legislation.”
Infowars’ request for comment from Mr. Kline was not immediately returned as of writing.
