White House Press Secretary Calls Nord Stream 1 Pipeline “Nordstrom 1”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was caught in an embarrassing moment when she expressed outrage at Vladimir Putin shutting down the “Nordstrom 1” pipeline.

Well, this is awkward.

Amidst an energy crisis that has already prompted Europeans to take to the streets in Prague and German cities over the last few days, Russia shut down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline on Monday and said it wouldn’t be re-opened until western sanctions were removed.

Addressing the issue, Karine Jean-Pierre confused the pipeline with Nordstrom, an American luxury department store chain headquartered in Seattle.

“What we see Russia is doing, we’ve been very clear about this, they’re using energy, they’re weaponizing energy,” Jean-Pierre said Tuesday during a White House press briefing.

“One of the things that has been out there … they shut down the pipeline of Nordstrom 1,” she added.

Whoops.

Maybe Jean-Pierre has been listening to too much Joe Biden and has caught his early state onset dementia by proxy.
