Democrat Rep. Porter Complains Her Job Is „Tough“ Because She Has to Work With Marjorie Taylor Greene

While promoting a new book, Democrat Representative Katie Porter complained about just how hard it is to be a politician earning $174k a year plus benefits in a chamber that averages just under 147 working days per year. 

And the truth is, it’s like you’re hot, you’re late, you’re sweaty, you don’t know what’s going on, you’re flying back and forth, and I think we should be more honest with the American people about, Congress is a mess,” she explained to Stephen Colbert. 

She added, „And that’s because democracy is kinda supposed to be messy. That’s okay. What’s not okay is lying to the American people about it and pretending that it’s all easy and that it’s all cut and dry.“

She then claimed that dealing with people who disagree with her is part of what makes the job so difficult. „Because the truth is, it’s hard. It’s hard to go to work everyday with Marjorie Taylor Greene as a colleague.“ 

Ironically, many of Porter’s staffers have said the same about her. Reports began surfacing last December that Porter berated and fired a staffer for allegedly giving her COVID, and she also faces accusations of using racist rhetoric and ridiculing other staffers.  

The California lawmaker then complained that her commute is too long; „It’s hard to commute 3000 miles to your job, right? It’s hard to work in an industry that is – before I was a politician, I was a professor and I actually used to be respected in my job.“

Long ago were those days.
