Brodnigs Wunderwelt: unzensuriert.at zerstört durch „Journalismus“ – Aber wie stark ist das „Profil“ beschädigt

Then there was a lot of journalism, even by a German journalist who managed to record a video where they exposed themselves. That harmed them. The good news is: it worked. The bad news is: you can quickly start a new website. Unzensuriert has significantly more online readers than Profil Apart from the fact that websites on the internet are always equally visible, unless they are censored, Ms. Brodnig can be reassured: unzensuriert.at has no plans to start a new website. Why would they? Unzensuriert.at has significantly more page views than the news magazine Profil, for which Brodnig frequently writes. The Austrian Web Analysis (ÖWA) only reports 490,000 visits and just under 910,000 page views for profil.at. Unzensuriert already had between 25,000 and 50,000 visitors per day in 2016. In the meantime, we have expanded our offering with unzensuriert.de, so that we have been able to significantly increase our overall reach. So, the question must be asked: if „journalism“ practically destroyed unzensuriert.at, how broken is Profil’s online presence? According to data from the Austrian Audit Bureau of Circulation (ÖAK), the weekly print circulation of Profil dropped from almost 100,000 to just under 34,000 copies between 1998 and 2023, during which time Christian Rainer was editor-in-chief and publisher of Profil. The number of subscriptions decreased less significantly, from almost 37,000 to about 32,000, although today more than 10,000 of them are e-paper subscriptions. Single sales are practically non-existent, with just under 3,000 copies, while in 1998, about 28,500 were sold weekly through newsstands. More than 14 million in funding and government advertisements for Profil This chronic lack of success can only be afforded with press subsidies and, above all, so-called „government advertisements“. According to the „More Media Transparency!“ initiative of the Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Profil has received more than 14 million euros in subsidies and advertisements subject to reporting under the Media Transparency Act since 2012.
