A prisoner being held at the same facility as Russian “Lord of War” arms dealer Viktor Bout says the prison is failing to adequately treat the weapons trader’s acute fungal infection spreading across his body.
Bout is in the news this week after the Biden administration allegedly offered a prisoner exchange where he’d be swapped for WNBA star Brittney Griner and suspected spy Paul Whelan.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “The Russian arms dealer inspired Nicolas Cage’s character in 2005’s Lord of War.”
Imprisoned human rights activist, alleged Anonymous hacker, and Senior Systems Engineer Martin Gottesfeld is the prisoner who provided this information to Infowars.
Gottesfeld and Bout are both being held at USP Marion, “a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in unincorporated Williamson County, Illinois.”
The Daily Mail and other outlets have also reported Bout is being held at USP Marion, America’s first federal supermax prison.
A search of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) database verifies this fact.
According to a July 10, 2022 email from Gottesfeld, Bout is a “prisoner-acquaintance” of his who was “being viciously neglected by the medical department here despite an acute fungal infection that has spread across his body.”
He continued, “I feel he is being used as a pawn in geo-political gamesmanship—in clear violation of U.S. Const. amend. VIII and, e.g., 18 U.S.C. Sec. 4042 Duties of the Bureau of Prisons.”
The BOP section Gottesfeld referred to states the agency is responsible for providing “safekeeping, care, and subsistence of all persons charged with or convicted of offenses against the United States.”
Meanwhile, the 8th Amendment of the Constitution clearly states “cruel and unusual punishments” should not be “inflicted” upon inmates.
Gottesfeld added, “The rational deduction is that the Biden administration is trying to put pressure on an adversary in the Eurasian theatre ahead of a rumored prisoner exchange by intentionally worsening my acquaintance’s medical situation in gross violation of his human rights.”
The latest communications from Gottesfeld indicate Bout has yet to receive his “urgently necessary dermatological and mycological care.”
Martin Gottesfeld’s wife Dana requested a comment from the BOP Office of Public Affairs on “whether or not the BOP condones USP Marion Physician’s Assistant Ms. Brooks and Assistant Health Services Administrator Ms. Harbison depriving this man of urgently necessary dermatological and mycological care.”
The agency did not respond to Dana’s request for comment.
The BOP has not responded to Infowars‘ request as of writing.
